Solar String Lights

A cool way to light up your backyard is to use solar string lights. These light strings have all the cool features of conventional strings except they require no wall power to run. A solar panel gathers energy and stores it in a rechargeable battery during the day. At night the light string automatically comes on without any human intervention. Light strings are a great way to quickly decorate a backyard or patio because a single string can cover such a large area. Awnings, gazebos and trees are just some of the places where solar string lights can be hung. Let’s look at a few examples of these light systems for different intended purposes.

Path, or perimeter lighting, is used to border walkways, flower beds and yard edges. Each bulb on the string set is attached to a plastic stake which is placed into the ground. The bulbs are attached at equal intervals for a precise look. A single solar panel sits at one edge of the light string, pointed in the grounddirection of the sun during the day. A battery powers the entire string for several hours after the sun sets. A variety of colors and styles are on the market, ranging from rustic to modern. Path string lights have an unlimited amount of uses, including bordering driveways, fences and patios.

Wall powered hanging string lights can be a pain to set up. Not only can it be difficult to get an extension cord up to where they are hung, but it can look unprofessional with the cord hanging down. Solar string lights eliminate this problem. Hang the patio string lights anywhere you desire and you’re done. It doesn’t need an extension cord for power, allowing you to place the light strings in unexpected places such as a tree top or archway.

Solar Rope Light

Solar rope lights are very similar to string lights except that the light bulbs are contained within a colored tube. This tube can be a variety of colors. The rope like design makes it ideal for bordering windows, doors, rails and more. Energy efficient LED bulbs provide the light inside while a solar panel module provides the power. All string lights, including this one, have a light sensor which tells the bulbs to come on at night and turn off during the day. The amount of light and the length of the tube will vary among models and manufacturers. Solar outside lighting saves you time and money while adding depth and dimension to your yard.
